Weinheim, November 11, 2020. Freudenberg Medical, a Freudenberg Group company and global developer and manufacturer of medical devices and specialty components for the medical device industry, announces that it has established a new Global Headquarters and medical manufacturing facility in Beverly, Massachusetts, USA, near Boston. The facility will manufacture devices and components in medical and implant-grade silicones and high-performance plastics for applications in and on the human body.

“As a values-based global technology group, Freudenberg offers innovative solutions that improve peoples’ lives. The opening of this new facility at this challenging moment is the proof of our long-term commitment and determination to continue this pursuit, drawing on our worldwide materials expertise to improve life-saving medical tools and components,” says Freudenberg CEO Dr. Mohsen Sohi.

The new 36,000-square-foot headquarters include expanded manufacturing and innovation facilities and Class 8 cleanrooms for medical molding and assembly. The facility is ISO 13485 certified and FDA-registered. Freudenberg Medical’s European headquarters are in Kaiserslautern. Medical silicone products for use in and on the human body have been manufactured here since 2009, including in cancer drug delivery systems or implants.

The facility in Beverly provides many benefits: The metropolitan area around Boston is considered a key U.S. education system hub, whose economic power is driven by high-tech companies in the medical technology and biotechnology sector. Research companies and start-ups have located in large numbers to the area. “The Boston life science cluster is the ideal place for our new headquarters and expanded manufacturing operation. It brings us closer to our customers, provides access to a strong medtech workforce and allows us to connect with local universities and research institutes,” says Dr. Max Kley, Freudenberg Medical President and CEO.

Freudenberg Medical has a long history in the region. The former headquarters in Gloucester, Massachusetts, has been in operation since 1989 and is a leading processor of silicone and thermoplastic components for medical and healthcare applications.
